KBA provided assessment, design, and construction contract administration services to the Town of Ridgefield and Tiger Hollow, inc. the replacement of the synthetic turf field and track. The existing synthetic turf field was in need of replacement after suffering from years of seam failures, fiber degradation, and inadequate drainage. The existing track surfacing and asphalt base had reached the end of their lifespan, as was evident in the cracking and delamination of the surface.
Improvements were made to the base of the field to increase its drainage capability. A resilient shock pad is also incorporated beneath the new synthetic turf surface to increase drainage, as well as to provide a more consistent and safe playing surface. The new multi-purpose field is permanently lined for football, soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey.
The track and field events were removed and fully reconstructed to provide a new asphalt base free of cracks and delamination. The newly constructed track base was surfaced with a two-tone urethane impermeable sandwich system focused on performance and limited maintenance for the school.
The field, like all KBA synthetic turf fields since 2016, was designed and tested to comply with the One Turf Concept developed by FIFA, World Rugby, and FIH for field quality, safety, and performance.
