In an effort to revitalize the City of Waterbury, the Palace Theater was completely renovated and restored to its original Thomas Lamb design. Original ornamentation was cleaned and painted, the marble lobbies and staircase were replaced, the facility was completely updated for code compliance, and the 2,700-seat theater was modernized to accommodate today’s Broadway shows and concerts. The theater includes a full stage house, prop rooms, dressing rooms, storage, administrative offices, and dining/function rooms. An underground river beneath the orchestra pit was physically moved to achieve the renovations. The theater is connected to the City’s Arts Magnet School.
