More than 30 sites were evaluated for a new combined police, fire and EMS facility before the site of the existing fire station was selected for its central location. Kaestle Boos designed the new combined facility along with fire station programming and design consultant Mitchell Associates Architects that houses the fire department on the upper level with 4 apparatus bays, offices, training tower, and living quarters. The lower level houses the police department with a roll call room, secure evidence processing and storage, and secure prisoner processing and detention area. The two departments share the main entrance, communications/dispatch center and training/community room. The existing fire station was renovated to house the EMS department. The project was completed over $2,000,000 under budget.
