The existing Harwich Fire Station 2 is more than 40 years old and is inadequate to meet the needs of the Harwich Fire Department with undersized apparatus bays, lack of storage, and systems are at the end of their lifespan. Renovation of the existing facility was evaluated, however, it was determined a new smaller, more efficient facility on the existing site was the more economical solution. The new facility will include three drive-thru apparatus bays, fire operation support spaces including laundry, decontamination, SCBA, and storage areas, living and sleeping quarters, a first-aid room, and space for the police department.
