Kaestle Boos was commissioned to design and construct a new 13,200 square foot central kitchen and completely renovate the Betsy Ross, now Ross Woodward, K-8 School. The exterior of the building was built to resemble the original United States flag. Windows lit at night appear to be the stars representing the original thirteen colonies. The site was reconstructed to include additional parking, secure bus and parent drop-offs, two multi-purpose, natural grass athletic fields and two separate play areas, one for older students and one for younger students. The kitchen is located on the Betsy Ross Site and provides food service to all school facilities within New Haven.
