Kaestle Boos Associates, Inc. has designed a new police headquarters for the Town of Watertown. The new facility is located on the site of a former school which was be demolished. KBA interviewed Police officials and staff to determine the program necessary for the current and future operations of the Watertown Police Department.
Features of the new facility include a drive-through sally port, secure parking for police vehicles and equipment, separate from both public and staff parking, 2 maintenance bays, fitness center, firing range, and large community/training room. The design of the facility is responsive to the neighborhood, encompassing elements of the surrounding architecture, including a historical home at the entrance and residential neighbors. Community access to an adjacent park was also maintained without compromising security.
